Professor Waris Alvi

During my stay in Ahmedabad I met Professor Alvi, a renowned Urdu poet/ critic, regarding a research paper of my friend. We made several visits to his house and got the opportunity to interact with such a beautiful human being. He shared his vast knowledge and opened my doors to a whole new world of Urdu poetry. I have some very sweet memories of his house... his singing... storytelling... poems

Haiti

Last year I got this art piece as a gift  from my friend Teresa who had bought it from a local metal craftsman in Haiti when she was staying there. Even though I have never visited Haiti but I felt connected with the country through this work of art which is there in my living room. I have always visualized the craftsman and his family in my mind who would have made this beautiful work. The recent devastating Haiti earthquake has made me really sad.
