Under Extinction

Under Extinction, Acrylic on Canvas, 2010, 102x127 cms

In this painting I have shown petty Indian shops and their owners with distinctive characters. These small shops are under the verge of extinction because of the mushrooming of big shopping malls that are monopolizing the purchasing patterns. These small shops selling interesting things like bangles, kites, lottery tickets, flowers, mirrors, trunks that are manufactured by  local small scale industries. They all have individual identity in terms their look.
